Monitoring astronauts’ mental health is challenging also because data collected during space missions are highly sensitive, and it is not always feasible for someone to listen to them. Some aspects of mental health — such as emotions — have been studied with machine-learning methods for decades, and two main modeling approaches are commonly used to represent them. Other psychological target variables have only recently come into the focus of large language models. This talk in Hungarian surveys recent developments in the psychological applications of speech and language technology, and concludes with a closer look at these issues through the example of emotion.
